The H II region and emission nebula IC 5070 / IC 5067 ("Pelican Nebula") associated with the North America Nebula NGC 7000 in the constellation of Cygnus. The gaseous contortions of this emission nebula bear a resemblance to a pelican, giving rise to its name. The Pelican Nebula is located close to the bright star Deneb, and is divided from its more prominent neighbour, the North America Nebula NGC 7000, by a foreground molecular cloud filled with dark dust.

IC 5070 / IC 5067 is mix of star formation and evolving gas clouds. The intense radiation from young, energetic stars is gradually heating the surrounding cold gas, driving an ionization front that steadily pushes outward. The Pelican Nebula is located approximately 1,800 light-years from Earth. (source: Wikipedia).

Exposure time: 5h 48min (116x3min) at gain 100 and -10°C, taken on June 21/22 and June 28/29, 2025. Processing with Astro Pixel Processor (APP) and Photoshop. Darks, flats, and bias were used.

Equipment: Cooled ASI 2600MC Pro camera, TeleVue Paracorr Type II coma corrector, 8" f/4 "ONTC" Newtonian telescope riding on a ZWO AM5 Strain Wave Mount, ZWO OAG-L off axis system, ASI 174MM Mini guide camera, ASIAIR Plus.
